Who are you?
My name is Weijia Cheng and I’m a former software engineer who’s now pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at the Boston University School of Theology. What motivates both my theological studies and the writing of this newsletter is my deep conviction that the world needs people who are fluent in both theological and technological thinking, who can address technological ethics more holistically. One of the most pressing issues in technological ethics is artificial intelligence, which has already upended our notions of what makes humans unique. When this technology becomes even more sophisticated, how will we reckon with that? In this newsletter, I try to create a space in which we can think through these problems together.
Where do I begin?
My current release schedule is one post per month, on the 15th of each month. Once you’ve subscribed, I highly recommend checking out my first two posts:
These posts introduce the theological perspective on AI ethics to various demographics. The first post addresses a Christian audience while the second post addresses an audience of secular technologists. I think both are worth reading no matter who you are, but you might find one of them more compelling than the other.
How can I support your endeavors?
I intend to make all of my writing for this newsletter free and publicly accessible forever. However, it is possible that I might enable paid subscriptions in the future, to allow readers to make a financial contribution towards my ministry and studies. What I need your help with most is getting this publication out to the right people. If you find my writing interesting, please consider sharing it with your social network!
